Tons at Heavy Psych Sounds Fest in Innsbruck, Austria.
Leaving in a couple days for this tour. I’m beyond stoked for it, couldn’t ever imagine I would end doing sounds for Minsk when The Ritual Fires Of Abandonment came out… See you guys down the road!
Last April Hierophant came to Deepest Sea and we recorded a couple tracks which ended on the 7″ now premiering on Cvlt Nation. Besides the title track, Spawned Abortions also contains a cover of Bolt Thrower’s Realm Of Chaos.
The 7″ will be out via Unholy Anarchy Records.
Listen to it now!
LaColpa’s debut is still gaining great reviews even after almost one year from its release.
“A lacerating sound, minutely crafted during production phase” - I take this as a great compliment, thank you Rumore!
Last friday my buds Hierophant came to play at the venue where I’m currently working, Magazzino Sul Po in Torino. It’s been such a pleasure to see them again after almost one year!
Here’s a short excerpt of their show.
In two days 2018 will kick in, so I take the chance to turn back and look at what happened this year. It’s been a strange year, I coped with some personal problems but had some incredible satisfactions on work aswell.
I had some incredible experiences doing sounds live, probably peaking in sharing the stage with Converge at Arc’Tan’Gent and doing live sounds for Justin Broadrick himself at Varvara (did both things in less than a week!). Plus, touring with Hierophant and Zatokrev is something which enriched my experience baggage a lot, in managing both big stages and super punk venues with no stage and broken PA.
I’m also really happy about the records I worked on which have been released this year, all seven of them represented something new for me in a way or another. I must confess that seeing LaColpa’s Mea Maxima Culpa ranking #7 at Cvlt Nation’s top sludge albums of the year was beyond any expectation, but also seeing the albums by Omega Machine and Buioingola in many italian charts made me really happy.
So let’s wait for 2018, I bet you will hear about the new Tons album!
The Starving Sound by Hollywook Killerz is finally out! I recorded and mixed it at Deeepest Sea. Collin Jordan took mastering duties at The Boiler Room in Chicago USA.
I’m pretty happy because street/glam is not my usual cup of tea, but this album turned out pretty well. Plus, Paolo Parpaglione played sax on Filthy (originally released by Nick Curran) and recording him - after having seen him playing lots of times with Africa Unite when I was a kid - felt like closing a circle.
Last May my friend (and amazing drummer) Andrea Peracchia recorded four videos. I took care of audio recording/mixing while Amedeo Berta of Ame Ray Vids shot and edited the videos.

Last saturday Stearica celebrated their 20th anniversary as a band in the venue I’m currently working in, Magazzino Sul Po, in our hometown Torino. It’s really been intense, they had Can’s Damo Suzuki, Girls Against Boys’ Scott McCloud and Fluxus’ Franz Goria as guests. I really enjoyed doing sounds for them and for such great guests! Here’s a short excerpt of their set, Girls Against Boys’ Bulletproof Cupid featuring Scott McCloud.
Today Ker digitally released a two-tracks ep, which were intended to be part of their debut album. I recorded drums at OFF Studio last June with Paul Beauchamp (who also added some noises on the second track, Comfort The Blind). The band then recorded bass, guitars and vocals in their reharsal space and sent all the stuff to Ultha’s Andy Rosczyk who mixed everything at his Gobling Sound Studios in Cologne. Michael Schwabe took mastering duties at Monoposto Mastering, in Duesseldorf.
Despite being friends with the band since years, it’s actually the first time I did some studio work with a foreign band, and thinking they came from Germany to record with me makes me feel really proud!
Sooo, it’s time for a brief summary of what happened in the last months.
Aside from my studio activity (which has gone great, expect some great stuff coming from Tons, Thirst Prayer and Last Minute To Jaffna) I did some live engineering aswell. Last August I flew with Stearica to England, at Arc’Tan’Gent Festival precisely. We played the main stage a couple hours after noon, and it’s been really great. Twenty years ago I remember them playing at our school’s party, and now they’re playing the same stage Converge played some hours later!
Back home I did FOH at Varvara Festival, like every year. It’s been such a pleasure working for a living legend as Justin Broadrick, who took part as JK Flesh.
Here’s some live videos:

Last October I’ve been touring with Zatokrev, from 16th to 24th. After a warm-up show doing FOH for The Leaving (solo project of Zatokrev’s Fredi) in Basel with my friends Father Murphy and the goddess Jarboe, we left for Eastern Europe. We had a great time through Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria, met cool people and great bands. We shared the bill three times with Au Dessus and in Varna I had the pleasure to do FOH for them aswell.
Here’s a couple tracks from Zatokrev show at Underworld, in Bucharest:
Another video from their show at Disorder Club in Svishtov:
The New Noise is premiering LaColpa’s debut album, Mea Maxima Culpa. I recorded most of it and mixed it and I’m pretty excited about its release, since it’s one of the most ambitious records I’ve ever worked on. Here you can listen to Fragments (Of A Smiling Face), the third and last track of the album.
Drums recorded by me and Paul Beauchamp at OFF Studio.
Guitar and bass recorded by me at Deepest Sea.
Vocals and electronics recorded by Cecco Testa at The Guilty Coven Studio.
Mixed by me at Deepest Sea.
Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.
